Ashley Dixon won’t compete for Miss Texas 2012
Ashley Dixon, who replaced Ramirez as Miss San Antonio 2011 when she was ousted, was crowned Miss Bexar County when Domonique Ramirez got reinstalled. Organizers still allows her to run for the Miss Texas 2012 title. However, Ashley Dixon officially won’t compete for Miss Texas.
The Miss Texas pageant said Wednesday that Ashley Dixon has resigned her title as Miss Bexar County, thus dropping out of the statewide competition July 1 in Arlington. A lawyer for San Antonio beauty pageant organizers had already told The Associated Press on Monday that Dixon had resigned.
Dixon was named Miss San Antonio after pageant organizers stripped Domonique Ramirez of the title. Ramirez went to court and got her crown restored, however, and Dixon was subsequently named Miss Bexar County. That made both eligible for Miss Texas — whose winner competes for Miss America. In its Wednesday statement, Miss Texas expressed disappointment over Dixon’s resignation.
